Crescent Therapeutics on Tuesday commissioned its first pharma unit outside Andhra Pradesh at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. The state-of the-art plant will manufacture oral solids of all type-tablets, capsules, caplets and pellets with different release patterns.

Situated in a two-acre plot, the manufacturing facility has a floor-space of 18,000 square feet in each floor in three floors to accommodate huge capacities of about 3 million tablets and 3,00,000 capsules per an eight-hour shift.

Managing director of Crescent Therpeutics, SK Janimalya said on Tuesday ?The Baddi facility is designed to meet the requirements of international regulatory authorities such as WHO, Geneva, MHRA, UK, MCC, South Africa, ANVISA, Brazil and the US FDA?. He said that the company has invested Rs. 16-crore for the construction of this factory. He said that the Baddi facility will be used to exporting products initially to some of the South East Asian, Central and East African countries. He said that East European, CIS and LATAM countries would take a little longer.

MA. Khadir, director of the company told that Crescent was founded in December 1997 by Janimiya, as a proprietary concern, it became a deemed limited company in 2003. The company started with a sale of two hundred thousand in 1997 and recorded about 160-million in sales for the financial year ending March, 2008. For the current fiscal year that is 2008-2009, the company is targeting to cross 240-million in sales. Khadir said that Crescent has focused on central nervous system (CNS) disorders.
