Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (CPIL), the country?s largest manufacturer of LPG cylinders, will open 10 LPG bottling plants in Indonesia with an investment of Rs 75 crore.
Talking to FE, CPIL?s chairman and managing director Nitin Khara said the Indonesian government has been implementing a programme to replace kerosene as fuel with LPG. The scheme is being implemented through Pertamina, the Indonesian government-owned national oil corporation that extracts and refines the country?s oil and gas reserves.
He said the Indonesian government has already started distributing seven crore new LPG connections to below the poverty line families. It is also supplying 3-kg LPG cylinders free.
?There is a huge demand for LPG cylinders and bottling in Indonesia. But Pertamina did not have infrastructure for bottling and manufacturing of LPG cylinders,? he said.
?Confidence had already established an LPG manufacturing facility and a bottling unit in Indonesia in June 2009. Now, CPIL will set up 10 more bottling facilities in Indonesia following huge gas filling orders from Pertamina,? he added.
