The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is hosting the event. ?The event will act as a catalyst for the footwear manufacturers in the country. They will get a window to share areas where improvements are necessary and help them penetrate into the global market more effectively,? said Muktharul Amin, chairman, CLE.
He said that the conference will be an opportunity to know better the international footwear manufacturers in other Asian countries. The industry leaders believe that the conference would open the doors of opportunity for the rapidly growing footwear industry in India.
Footwear which accounted for over 30% of the $3 billion leather and leather products exports in 2006-07 is expected to move up to 50% of the expected $7 billion exports by 2011.
