Confederation of Indian Industry along with the World Economic Forum is organising a three-day ?India Economic Summit? beginning December 2, 2007 in the national capital.
The 23rd summit, having a theme ?Building Centres of Excellence?, would bring together over 700 business, political and civil society leaders from 37 countries to present their views. The programme is organized under four thematic pillars.
State and national competitiveness will examine how policy-makers aim to improve the environment for business growth at the state and national levels.
Inclusive growth will explore how states, industries and companies are adapting to changing political, economic and consumer expectations. Infrastructure development will examine how policy-makers and CEOs are developing the country’s hard and soft infrastructure and implementing public-private partnerships, while risk management will examine how to address challenges to future growth.
“Sustaining a double-digit GDP growth will require intense efforts on several fronts by a multitude of stakeholders. India will need to especially focus on enhancing skills, ensuring inclusive growth and linking India to the globe,” president CII Sunil Bharti Mittal, said.
The summit would be co-chaired by industry captains such as Mukesh D Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries, Orit Gadiesh, chairman, Bain and Company (USA), Anand G Mahindra, vice-chairman and managing director, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hector de J Ruiz, president and chief executive officer, Advanced Micro Devices (USA), Ben J Verwaayen, chief executive officer, BT, (UK), and Edward J Zander, chairman and chief executive officer, Motorola, (USA).
