The Prince of Wales Prince Charles congratulated Indian industry for their initiative in sustainable business. Green business is good business, exclaimed the Prince, who was delivering his address at the eco-preneurs meet?a joint venture of BYST and CII?held at the Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh on Monday.
?The potential is enormous and hopefully BYST will scale its operations before it celebrates its 20 years,? said Prince of Wales. He awarded the winners of a unique eco-business idea contest and the BYST green ambassadors.
?On my last visit to India, I was enormously proud to be present at the BYST 10th anniversary celebrations which I had launched 17 years back based on my Youth Business Trust in the United Kingdom entirely as a result of a conversation I had with Lakshmi during her father?s state visits to the UK.?
The Prince of Wales said Punjabi diaspora settled in UK, the Sikhs in particular, had contributed with magnanimity for the promotion of world-wide programmes initiated by him for the welfare of the mankind.
The meet also witnessed the inaugural of the ?Green Business Club? and recognition of the green business ambassadors from the northern, western and southern India?s BYST offices. He also met the delegation of Northern industry, headed by CII Northern Region chairman RM Khanna.
The governor of Punjab Shivraj Patil said he was delighted to hear that it was Prince of Wales who sowed this idea and helped in setting up BYST in India. He appreciated the Prince?s work to promote several worthy social causes worldwide with a particularly strong commitment to climate change is really commendable.
The Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal congratulated the Confederation of Indian Industry and Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, for organising this Eco-preneurs meet. Badal sought the guidance and cooperation in supporting unemployed youth by establishing innovative skill development partnership programme as per the requirement of the British Industry.
