FMCG major CavinKare is planning to venture into the home care segment in a big way. Though company officials are tightlipped about the products, the company is looking across categories in the home care segment. “We will be lauching a few products in home care early next year,” said Ramesh Viswanathan, executive director, CavinKare. Recently, Dabur made a foray into home care by launching Dazzl kitchen and floor cleaners.

CavinKare is also planning to launch Green Trends and Limelite salons across the country next year. “We are looking at a pan India presence for our salons,” said Viswanathan. Currently, Green Trends is located in Chennai and Bangalore while Limelite is present in Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. And with metrosexual men hogging the limelight, CavinKare is using its salons to woo menfolk into beauty in a big way. Men’s contribution to the salon’s revenue is nearly 50% with hair cutting and hair colouring being the most popular services.

The company is also looking to launch new variants in the hair colour category. “This category is growing in excess of 30% year on year. Hair colour is a focus area for us,” said Viswanathan. Plans are afoot to add trendy and fashionable colours to the stable. “These products will be for the high-end segment,” said Viswanathan. The FMCG major is also looking to strengthen its deodarants business by launching new variants.

Taking a cue from Sunsilk GangofGirls, CavinKare has also ventured into the online space by launching a website for its Spinz (talcs and deodorants) brand. “The platform provides today’s woman an opportunity to share her thoughts and views with like-minded peers. Brand ambassador and cine actor Asin launched the website. Today, a critical mass accesses the net. It is an interactive medium and we hope through this initiative we can zero in on our customer and their preferences more effectively. We are looking to tap the 18-25 year old SEC A,B, C segment via the net. We hope to get feedback from consumers on our products and communication campaigns,” said Viswanathan.
