Cardamom prices rose by 1.08 pc to Rs 1,115 per kg in futures trade on Tuesday, buoyed by pick-up in spot demand amid low stocks due to restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May gained Rs 11.90, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 1,115 per kg, with a business volume of 32 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April surged by Rs 11.10, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 1,089 per kg, with an open interest of 87 lots.

Cardamom futures prices for delivery in June rose by Rs 10.90, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 1,121.90 per kg, with a business turnover of seven lots.

Traders said pick-up in spot demand in the domestic markets mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
