Students of XLRI Jamshedpur recently conducted a confidence building coaching session for underprivileged students under the social programme?Jagriti. The session was held at a high school in Gamharia village near Jamshedpur, where students were familiarised with the banking system and safety in investments. They were given career counselling sessions to make them aware of the various career avenues and the means to achieve them. Personality development programmes were also conducted for senior students to hone their writing and communication skills. ?We have been conducting informal interactive sessions under ?Jagriti? regularly. The coaching sessions along with financial awareness programmes have received a roaring welcome by the schools? students and teachers alike,? commented Praveen Kumar, a doctoral student at XLRI.

Pre-placement offers at NMIMS see a high

The School of Business Management of SVKM?s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) University, Mumbai, says that despite the challenging market, placements have begun on a positive note. ?This year the offers so far are 48, and NMIMS hopes to surpass the figure of 90 of last year soon,? said a note from the institute.
