Taking a critical view of the leaders of Congress, SP and the BSP visiting the house of SIMI leader Mufti Abu Bashir, the alleged ??mastermind?? behind the Ahmedabad blasts, the BJP on Friday said the parties are acting as ??cheerleaders?? for terrorism. Citing the earlier statements of Union ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan and SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav welcoming the lifting of ban on the SIMI, the saffron party said that the ruling alliance is indulging in ??sheer appeasement politics.??
??The Congress, BSP and SP have become cheerleaders of these terrorist organisations, groups and individuals who are mercilessly targeting and killing innocents across the nation,?? BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here on Friday. He reiterated his party?s demand for a ??comprehensive law like POTA?? to combat terrorism.
??The charge of the BJP that the UPA and its allies are soft on terror now witnesses a conclusive evidence with the visit of Ram Naresh Yadav (Congress), Akbar Ahmad (BSP), Abu Azmi (SP) and the Imam of Delhi Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari to the Azamgarh village of Mufti Abu Bashir,?? Rudy told reporters here adding that he doubts a disgusting display of support to elements of terror an attempt to influence the judicial process.
??While the Union home ministry vainly lauds the ample substantive evidence delivered by the government of Gujarat to substantiate charges against SIMI, here are the allies of the same UPA government giving an overt disgusting display of supporting elements of terror,?? Rudy added. ??This sympathy with terrorists does not only mark supporting terrorism but also ascertains their collusiveness,?? he said.
??There is an apparent devious design by these political parties to blasphemies concerted action against terror as acts against a particular minority community,?? the party said in a statement. Taking a dig at the Union home ministry, it said: ??While the glaring example of non execution of Afzal Guru by the UPA, a terrorist convicted for attack on Parliament where execution stands confirmed by the Supreme Court, we have a Home Minister who refuses to call a spade a spade and denounce Islamic terrorists referring them as ‘boys who have been misled.??
