Chennai-based BGR Energy Systems (BGR Energy) will design, manufacture and market sub and super- critical Foster Wheeler boilers in India under a licence agreement. The company has floated a special purpose vehicle, BGR Boilers Private Ltd for this deal with the New Jersey-based Foster Wheeler North America Corp, a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG, a global engineering and construction contractor and power equipment supplier.
The 20-year licence agreement is subject to approval of the government, a BGR release said on Wednesday. The boilers will be of sizes ranging from 300 mw to 1000 mw. ?BGR boilers will have access to international markets through case-by-case licence,? the release said.
According to Foster Wheeler Global Power Group , executive vice-president of global sales and marketing David J Parham, ?As India?s need for electric power generation continues to increase, the Foster Wheeler-BGR team will be positioned to add value by providing the power generators high quality advanced technology to meet their growing needs.?
BGR Energy chairman and managing director BG Raghupathy said, ?Being a leading EPC contractor in the power generation sector in India, the partnership with Foster Wheeler to manufacture the full range of boilers would increase the value of in-house contribution to the EPC projects.?
