Ashok Nayak, chairman, Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd (HAL) gave the Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers (SAME) National Governing Council Gold Medal award 2007 to Ankit Fasteners at the national aerospace seminar, here, on Thursday. Umesh Patel, CEO of the Bangalore-based company received the award.
The SAME gold medal award is given for outstanding contribution among the Indian industries in aerospace sector, a release, said, here. Ankit Fasteners is one of the major industies in the country for the development and manufacturing of various types of precision high strength aerospace quality fasteners used for the assembling and integration of aircraft and launch vehicles PSLV, GSLV, GSLV – MK3 etc. These are made of material like Titanium – 6Al4V, Inconnel-718, Stainless steel, A286, Z30C13, high strength alloy 35NCD16 and Aluminum Alloy V65.
Indigenous development of high precision fasteners at Ankit has enabled huge amount of import-substitution on space industry components, on which India had been reliant on France, the UK, Germany and the US, Ankit spokesman Philip Kunjummen said.
