An incident of theft reportedly took place at a Finance Company’s Gangavalli office in Salem district of Tamil Nadu on Monday. The burglars took away 5 kgs of gold jewellery and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash, TOI and News X reported on Tuesday. The burglars reportedly entered the office after making a hole on the wall in the early hours of Tuesday. The theft came into light when the company staff filed a FIR in the nearby police station on Tuesday morning. As per the police, the burglars made their entry and exit from the office through the hole. Office staff got to know about the theft when the staff opened the office on Tuesday morning.

This is the second incident of robbery in one week. Earlier, in a sensationalising incident, thieves stole Rs. 5.78 crore cash by breaking the roof of a parcel van attached to the Salem-Chennai Express. The money was part of a consignment of soiled currency being transported by the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) for destruction. The theft, which left the authorities shocked, was detected several hours after the train that left Salem last Monday night arrived in Chennai Egmore on Tuesday.
