The $1-billion euro French engineering consulting company Alten is firming up growth plans for its Indian arm Calsoft Labs that it bought from the Chennai-based NSE-listed IT company Calsoft during last fiscal. With the completion of R100- crore acquisition of Calsoft Labs recently, Alten is drawing up an elaborate market strategy to tap the US market with the help of 670 engineers of Calsoft, Gerald Attia, deputy CEO, told FE.
“Being a France-based European company, we have 70% of our business from France and remaining from rest of Europe including countries like Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Spain and Romania. With Calsoft R&D labs on board, we wish to expand our presence in the United States, especially in the areas of vehicle electronics, embedded design, pharma and life science,? Attia said.
?Calsoft will be part of our mission to expand our concentration beyond Europe to vibrant markets of the US and Asia,? he said. Calsoft already has about some 40 customers in the areas of networking, embedded technology and Internet Services in the US.
?We wish to add about 2,000 highly skilled engineers to Indian division’s workforce by 2014 to strengthen our market penetration beyond Europe. Globally, we have an army of 12,600-odd highly skilled engineers engaged in engineering and consulting domain,? he added.
