Sajid Nadiadwala who made his directorial debut earlier this year with Kick seems to be on a roll. After the subsequent release and box office success of Salman Khan-starrer ‘Kick’, Sajid has fast become one name that keeps recurring. (‘Kick’ box office collections have been over Rs 230 cr in India, making its the third highest grosser of all time)
In fact, last week Eros had acquired Sajid’s next ‘Housefull 3’, that will commence shooting next year, for Rs 100 crore. Now, the UTV has also decided to partake of Sajid’s success.
It is learnt that UTV has acquired the rights for Sajid Nadiadwala’s next three films, namely ‘Phantom’ featuring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, ‘Tamasha’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and Sabir Khan’s next featuring Tiger Shroff.
However, the interesting part of the said deal is that UTV has shelled out a whooping Rs 200 crore as a minimum guarantee, with additional revenue that will come in from overflow from collections to acquire the three films.
Though official confirmation on the same is still pending, Phantom is expected to release in April next year, while Tamasha is under production. Housefull 3 takes off in January 2015.
