Anil Ambani led Reliance ADA group has placed a bid for the Rs 30,000 crore Ganga Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Thursday. The Ganga Expressway would be one of the major expressway projects in the state as well as in the country. This eight-lane expressway stretches up to 1,047 km connecting all the major cities of UP with Delhi.

The original cost of the expressway would be around Rs 26,000 crore and the remaining would be on other infrastructure development related to the project.

Sources said, the group will invest through Reliance Energy Limited. It is learned that Reliance Energy is now focusing on infrastructure as a part of their business. Earlier, Ambani had announced capital infusion in Reliance Energy and plans to foray into greenfield infrastructure projects like airports and roads, among others.

The packages for the expressway project?s bidding process is divided into four parts, wherein the first package would connect Greater Noida to Fatehgarh including Farrukhabad Link of about 253 km. Under the second package is included Fatehgarh to Dalmau (Raibareli) including Lucknow
