Jeev Milkha Singh has given us some great golfing action to watch recently. First it was the European Tour co-sanctioned Ballantines Championship where he played superb golf to get into a playoff for the title on Sunday. He holed an excellent putt from about 12-ft on the second playoff hole to remain in the fight for the title and then hit his second shot on the third playoff hole to about four ft.
But Jeev?s opponent ? Graeme McDowell hit his second shot given ? just inches away from the hole ? hence confirming his birdie and shifting the pressure back onto Jeev who needed to hole the four-footer to stay in contention.
As luck would have it, Jeev missed and McDowell tapped in to win the European Tour title. That gave Jeev two second-place finishes in a matter of a few weeks and he looked good as he headed for the World Golf Championships at Florida.
And his performance was no different on the PGA Tour. Jeev held his ground to finish the week in a tie for 26th place. He was even tied for four fourth place at one stage during the course of the tournament after shooting a 68 and 70 in the first two rounds, but a 70 followed by a 73 on the final day saw him eventually finish tied 26th.
Jeev will now play the Shell Houston Open next, a week before he plays the US Masters. This will be Jeev?s second Masters appearance and he is hoping to card a memorable finish this year. The pressure is off, he is in excellent form and he has enough experience by his side.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is on a conquering spree. He has won seven consecutive tournaments that he has played. However, Geoff Ogilvy got the better of him at the World Golf Championships last week. Ogilvy made just one bogey in 72 holes and that is a good lesson for all other professionals trying to beat Tiger each week.
