State-owned Air India on Tuesday revoked the suspension of 16 of its cabin crew members operating on wide-bodied aircraft after the union threatened to launch a ?peaceful agitation? in protest.

The cabin crew members who were placed under suspension a few days back as they were protesting against revised DGCA norms stipulating longer working hours, will now be put back on duty on Wednesday.

Sources said that the suspension, which was done after following all the laid down norms, was revoked as the management feared that any agitation may affect some of its international and domestic operations.

The management also withdrew showcause notices to 42 other employees, said a member of Air India Cabin Crew Association (AICCA), which met the senior management on Tuesday.

?We had a meeting with the senior management on issues like withdrawing the showcause notice given to some staff and on increasing the number of flights from Mumbai,? said the Air India employee.

?While, the management withdrew the showcause notice, it assured us that it will reconsider our plea to increase the number of international flights from Mumbai,? he added.

According to the AICCA member, the reason behind the demand is that people from closeby areas like Gujarat, who want to fly to foreign destinations and currently have to go all the way to Delhi to catch their flights, will be better served if more Air India international flights are started from Mumbai.
