The southern state of Telangana will be voting later this year. Telangana, currently led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, chief of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi), is all set to witness a three-cornered electoral contest between the BRS, Congress and the BJP. In the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, BRS had won 87 seats in the 119-member House and constituted 49 per cent of the total vote share. Earlier, in 2014, when Telangana had become the 29th state of the country, KCR assumed office as the first CM of the state and his party had won 63 seats. In the 2023 elections, the CM will be contesting from two seats – Gajwel and Kamareddy, and exuded confidence that the BRS will win 95-105 seats.
