Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is a talented right-handed opening batsman born in the city of Pune, India, on January 31, 1997, renowned for his elegant stroke play. He made international debut in a T20I against Sri Lanka in July 2021 and went on to make his ODI debut against South Africa in late October 2022. Gaikwad has not had the longest international career so far; however, his promise is shown in a T20I strike rate of 39.56 with 633 runs at an average of 39.56 including a century. So far he has played six ODIs, with a personal best score 71; however, his average is low so far, and he is yet to make a consistent international mark.


In the IPL, Ruturaj Gaikwad has stood out among all other players as a signed player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since 2020. He had an exceptional run in the 2021 season when he aggregated 635 runs and also walked away with the Orange Cap, the highest run-scorer in the tournament. He was a driving force in helping CSK clinch the title in that year. He has amassed over 2400 IPL runs over several years with two centuries, boasting a phenomenal average of 41.95. In 2024, he succeeded MS Dhoni as the captain of CSK, marking the beginning of yet another chapter in his IPL journey. Gaikwad is now the key figure in future Indian cricket as captain and batsman.
