The Pentagon report to the US Congress emphasized China’s “core interests” such as sovereignty claims over Taiwan and Arunachal Pradesh, territorial disputes in the South China Sea and Senkaku Islands, and efforts to strengthen ties with Pakistan. It also warned of China’s attempts to prevent deepening of India-US relations due to reduced tension along the LAC.
