FM Sitharaman highlights surge in Diwali sales to all-time high of Rs 6.05 lakh crore
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a record-breaking Diwali sales of Rs 6.05 lakh crore, driven by GST rate cuts and high demand for ‘swadeshi’ products. This marks a 25% increase from last year’s festive sales and is the highest-ever in India’s trading history. Mainline retail accounted for 85% of sales, and reduced GST rates significantly improved price competitiveness.
