B.Y. Vijayendra, also known as B.Y.V, is an Indian businessman and the son of B.S. Yediyurappa, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka. He was born on October 1, 1972, in Shikaripura, a small town in Shimoga district, Karnataka.

Vijayendra holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere. After completing his education, he started his career as a businessman and joined his family’s Shivakumar Builders Private Limited, a construction company based in Bangalore. Vijayendra served as the director of the company and played a significant role in expanding the business.

In 2019, Vijayendra’s father B.S. Yediyurappa became the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the fourth time. Vijayendra became active in politics and was instrumental in managing his father’s campaign. He is also credited with playing a crucial role in the formation of the BJP government in Karnataka in 2019.

Vijayendra’s role in the BJP’s Karnataka unit expanded, and he was appointed as the Vice President of the party’s youth wing. He has also held various positions in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent organization of the BJP.

Vijayendra’s political aspirations were on full display during the 2021 political crisis in Karnataka. Several BJP leaders, including B.S. Yediyurappa, faced rebellion from within the party, and there were reports that Vijayendra was positioning himself as a potential successor to his father. However, the crisis was eventually resolved, and B.S. Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister in July 2021.

Despite being the son of a prominent politician, Vijayendra has largely maintained a low profile in the media and has avoided giving interviews or making public statements. However, he is seen as a rising star in the BJP and is expected to play a significant role in the party’s future in Karnataka.
