The Thiruvananthapuram-based IT company, IBS announced the acquisition of Boston’s web-based software company VISaer, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal was finalised in April 2008, and involved a 100% take over of VISaer’s assets, employee and global customer base, according to IBS chairman and chief executive V K Mathews.

The take-over filled a gap in the product portfolio of IBS, which has already been serving airline operational requirements such as improvement of crew and fleet performance, safety, cost reduction etc, Mathews told the media.

?Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) are vital functions for airlines and VISaer completes our portfolio of solutions that help effectively manage their operational requirements,? he told the media.

The acquisition was expected to create a global market leadership in the currently fragmented multi billion-dollar MRO market.

Visaer functions in the field of Aviation maintenance and engineering and the airline MRO space.

Its clients include China Southern Airlines, Jordan Aeronautical Systems Co, Copa Airlines and Quantas Airways.

IBS employs over 200 professionals and has centers across 14 locations globally.
