Energy conservation measures has led Haryana circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited not only to win National Energy Conservation Awards but also save about Rs two crore.

Arun Kumar Gupta, chief general manager, BSNL, Haryana Telecom Circle, told FE here on Wednesday that Haryana circle saved over Rs one crore in 2009-10, and in 2010-11, it was targeting to achieve the same level of savings. He informed that already till the end of November, the BSNL Haryana had already been able to save over Rs 50 lakh.

Talking to FE, Gupta disclosed that maximum saving had been in BSNL office in Yamunanagar which was 18%, followed by Ambala at 15.54% and 12.18% at Karnal. He said BSNL has come out with is own energy conservation policy which had resulted in the huge saving.

He said the Haryana circle of BSNL has been able to sweep National Energy Conservation Award in the office building sector in 2010. Of the total five awards, the power ministry has conferred three National energy conservation awards on BSNL Haryana itself. The fourth award had gone to Kerala circle of BSNL.
