Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said the state government will soon announce a new policy for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The policy aims to encourage establishment of SMEs and development of infrastructure for those units in Orissa, he said.
Patnaik, who laid the foundation stone for the Rs 360-crore auto component complex of RSB group at Chaudwar in Cuttack district, said a well-laid policy for the SMEs is required in view of the downstream and ancillary industries coming up in and around the proposed steel and aluminium projects in Orissa.
The chief minister announced that state-owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corp would set up an industrial park for the SMEs in Chaudwar following the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
He also said three cement plants, with a total capacity of 9 million tonne, would be set up in the state. Those plants will use blast furnace slag and fly ash as raw materials.
