A Haridwar court has today slapped five production units of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali with a fine of Rs 11 lakh for putting up misleading advertisements” of the products which were newly launched. The court has asked Patanjali to pay fine within a month. The Patanjali Ayurved was found guilty of misbranding as the products which were shown by the company as being produced at its units were actually manufactured somewhere else, the court said.

In 2012, the District Food Safety Department had filed a case in the Supreme Court after samples ofsalt, mustard oil, besan, pineapple jam, and honey produced by the company had failed quality tests at Rudrapur laboratory.
The products were found to be in violation of Food Security norms and of Food safety and Standard (packaging and labelling) regulation.
