PM-Kisan Yojana Explained: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan Yojana) is a government initiative aimed at providing financial support to small and marginal farmers across India. Launched by the Narendra Modi-led government, the scheme came into effect on December 1, 2018. It promises to deliver a minimum income support of Rs 6,000 per year to eligible farmer families, irrespective of the size of their landholding.

Under the PM-Kisan Yojana, each eligible farmer family receives Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each, disbursed every four months. The scheme defines a family as comprising a husband, wife, and minor children. The funds are directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers or their families, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution process.
