In a press conference at the White House, US President Donald Trump did not hesitate to patronise Afghan reporter, Nazira Karimi. Standing alongside Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, stunned everyone with this interaction. Catching eyeballs and turning heads on social media, his reply has sparked an uproar.

In the conference, reporter Nazira Karimi asked, “You have any plan to change Afghanistan’s situation? Are you able to recognise the Taliban?” Previously, the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan followed the chaotic U.S. withdrawal in 2021, an event that Donald Trump described as “the most embarrassing day” in American history.

The conference was a consequence of his stand on the Gaza Strip. He suggested that the US should take “ownership” of the war-torn zone. He stated, “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll make sure that it’s done world-class. It’ll be wonderful for the people—Palestinians, Palestinians mostly, we’re talking about.”

While “facing difficulty to understand”, the President asked where the reporter was from. On receiving the reply, he promptly responded “It’s a beautiful voice and a beautiful accent. The only problem is I can’t understand a word you’re saying, but… Good luck. Live in peace.” While Karimi was taken aback, Trump swiftly changed the flow of the conversation.
