The Henley Passport Index 2024 has ranked the Indian passport at 82nd place, providing visa-free entry to citizens for 58 foreign destinations. Popular tourist spots accessible without a visa include Indonesia, Maldives, and Thailand. 

The ranking relies on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the most comprehensive and accurate global travel information database. India’s current ranking places it on par with countries such as Senegal and Tajikistan.

World’s most powerful passport

Singapore leads as the world’s most powerful passport, granting visa-free access to 195 countries. Following closely, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan share the second position with visa-free entry to 192 destinations each.

Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden jointly hold the third spot, offering visa-free access to 191 countries.

Ranked fourth, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland provide visa-free travel to 190 destinations. Australia and Portugal tie for fifth place, allowing entry to 189 countries without a visa.

The United States now stands at the eighth position, with visa-free access to 186 countries.
