US President Donald Trump delivered a televised speech on Wednesday, December 17, (US time) asserting that American went from “worst to best” under his administration. Heavily ranting about Democrats and his predecessor, ex-President Joe Biden, the Republican leader continued boasting about how Americans were rejoicing in a new era altogether with him at the helm.
The entire speech seemed more rushed than ever, as Trump addressed a wide-ranging issue in his 18-minute speech. He made it a point to highlight job wages, as they were in the Biden era as opposed to where they stand during his administration. As he continued his Biden slander, Trump maintained that possibly worst thing of all his predecessor’s administration did was bring in scores of foreign nationals into the country, thereby draining taxpayer money.
From illegal immigrants to the Federal Reserve and tariffs, Trump kept circling around the ‘America First’ agenda in his own way. “We are making America great again,” Trump proclaimed. “Inflation is stopped, wages are up, prices are down, our nation is strong, American is respected and our country is back, stronger than ever before.”
The US president even promised an “economic boom the like of which the world has never seen,” especially since the country is soon to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the LA28 Olympic Games. Here’s everything he said during the full speech.
Trump’s ‘warrior dividend’ checks
The POTUS announced Wednesday that his administration would send $1,776 “warrior dividend” checks to military members, with the amount honouring the country’s founding year 1776. He primarily attributed the relief to gains from his tariff regime and the passage of a massive GOP tax and spending bill this year. 1.4 million soldiers will be receiving the checks.
Signalling that the announcement was put together right before his nation address, Trump said, “And the checks are already on the way. Nobody understood that one until about 30 minutes ago.” He added, “We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs and the bill helped us along. Nobody deserves it more than our military…”
At the same time, he also noted that the US military had recorded all-time high enlistment numbers compared to last year bringing in the “worst numbers in our military’s history.”
‘More housing and jobs for Americans’
Taking a swipe at the Biden administration’s initiatives to rehabilitate refugees and foreign nationals, Trump said, “In the year before my election all net job creation was going to foreign migrants. Since I took office, 100% of all net job creation has gone to American born citizens.”
He further asserted that the US will be putting an end to how things have been operating in Minnesota, where Somalians “have taken over” state economics.
‘Strongest border in the history of US’
Trump hailed his own administration for his ongoing immigration crackdown and how the country’s border had been secured upon his re-election. He believes that after he took back the helm, his officials “turned it into the strongest border in the history of our country,” suggesting they from being the “worst to best.”
Driving more attention towards how deporting criminals was restoring safety to the cities. “Just take a look at Washington, DC. It’s at levels of safety that we’ve never seen before, and they decimated the blood thirsty foreign drug cartels,” he added, highlighting that the enforcement was carried out “with our people.”
He further claimed that drugs being brought into the country by ocean and sea were down 94%.
Inflation in the Biden era
As far as Trump’s analysis highlights during the nation address go, car prices rose 22%, and even 30% in many states, under the Biden admin. Gasoline, on the other hand, rose 30 to 50%. Hotel rates were up 37%, airfares rose 31%. “Democrats also sent the cost of groceries soaring but we’re solving that too,” the Republican leader stressed.
“The price of a Thanksgiving Turkey was down 33% compared” to the Biden era last year, he added. “The price of eggs is down 82% since March, and everything is falling rapidly and it’s not done yet.”
At another point during the speech, Trump said that in addition to bringing down interest rates, the ew year will also see “some of the most aggressive housing reforms in American history.”
Wages in Biden era vs Trump era
The MAGA leader claimed that under Joe Biden, wages slumped by $3,000. However, he argued that following his own re-election factory workers have witnessed a wage increase of $1,000, while construction workers have seen a rise by $1,800, and for miners it’s up $3,500.
US job creation
The 79-year-old commander-in-chief proclaimed that since he came back more people have been working today than any time in American history. “100% of all jobs created since I took office have been in the private sector,” he affirmed, saying that creating jobs on the private side as the “only way to make a country powerful.”
Noting that this “historic trend” will continue, he said that the country had already secured a record-breaking $18 trillion of investments into the US, impacting jobs, wage increases, growth, factory openings and national security.
“Much of this success has been accomplished by tariffs, my favourite word… which for many decades have been used successfully by other countries against the US but not anymore.” Trump reiterated yet again that since companies were well aware of how building in America brings forth not tariffs, they are coming to America in record numbers.
