US President Donald Trump amplified an unfounded and bizarre conspiracy theory on Saturday, claiming that former President Joe Biden was “executed in 2020,” and has since been replaced with a clone, who ran the office. Although originally posted by an anonymous user, the Republican leader re-posted the controversial claim on his social media platform Truth Social, stating that the 46th POTUS was replaced with “clones, doubles,” and “robotic engineered soulless mindless entities.”

In addition to his millions of followers on the platform taking note of the baseless claim, other SNS users and media headlines also drew attention to the issue. Yet again challenging Joe Biden‘s mental acuity, Trump continued his years-long streak of doubling down on posting misinformation. “There is no #JoeBiden – executed in 2020,” the original post began, as the user added, “#Democrats don’t know the difference,” suggesting that robotic clones had taken over Biden’s post.

Donald Trump’s Joe Biden conspiracy theory goes viral

Although this time Trump did not add any comments of his own – contrary to his usual “Sleepy Joe” remarks, his amplification of the post led to the eventual virality of the claims. Someone else chimed in online, referencing wild theories about the Democratic leader. Doubling down on body double theories, a user wrote, “Thank you, do you know how long I’ve been saying this? Trump was still our President in his first term and I knew Joe Biden was gone during his run for president. They installed The Biden… an actor (blue eyes & brown eyes).”

A fellow QAnon believer said, “We knew this but now it’s confirmed by the Commander in Chief! Wow!!! NCSWIC… nothing! Trust the plan.” The post referred to the infamous slogan “Nothing Can Stop What Is Coming,” which Trump also previously used to claim that he was on a divine mission after a trade court blocked his ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs.

A user on X referred to another one of Trump’s prior claims, adding, “If NO JOE, Last 4 Years Can Be Wiped Clean!”

Trump continues doubling down on wild Biden theories

Back in May, Donald Trump continued his fixation on Joe Biden’s “autopen,” alleging that a mechanical signing device was used to approve executive orders and legislation during the Democrat politician’s administration. He vehemently implied that the use of this so-called autopen meant that Biden had no idea what actions were being enacted during his office term. “Who was operating the autopen? This is a very serious thing. We had a president that didn’t sign anything,” the MAGA leader said at the time.

Without handing out any evidence to back his claims, he basically insisted that “radical left lunatics” had run the government illegally for four years due to their disappointment in Biden’s election.

“You know who signed it? Radical Left lunatics that were running our country and the auto pen signed it, and they didn’t want him, and they were disappointed in getting him, because they wanted Bernie Sanders,” Trump added. “And then after about two weeks, they said, Wait a minute, this is a gift. He’ll do anything. We’re going to use the auto pen, and they use the auto pen and everything. We are going to go into very much … remember what I said, the autopen, this government was illegally run for four years.”

Trump ‘not sorry’ for Biden even after cancer diagnosis

On May 18, Biden was diagnosed with a “more aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. Shortly after his office announced the news, Trump called Biden a “somewhat vicious person,” adding that no one should feel sorry for him because he’s vicious.

“[Biden’s] been a sort of moderate person over his lifetime,” Trump said. “Not a smart person, but a somewhat vicious person, I will say. If you feel sorry for him, don’t feel so sorry, because he’s vicious. What he did with his political opponent and all of the people that he hurt—he hurt a lot of people, Biden, so I really don’t feel sorry for him.”

These remarks came a week after he said he was “very sad” about Biden’s cancer diagnosis. Nonetheless, he emphasised being surprised by the news and questioned why the “public wasn’t notified a long time ago.” His son, Donald Trump Jr, also pushed back, wondering if the diagnosis was “yet another coverup.” His thoughts echoed those emerging from the MAGA camp and otherwise, doubting how long Biden had known about his diagnosis before its eventual announcement.
