Conservative Georgia firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene continues to go back-and-forth on her statements about US President Donald Trump amid a rather vocal and public feud between the two. The longtime ally of the MAGA leader made another attempt to put the record straight about where she stood in terms of position in the Trump fan club.

Coming out for an interview with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, MTG told host Dana Bash that she was still holding on to hopes that she and the POTUS would be on the same team again.

However, that’s not to say that the Republican congresswoman backed away from her demands for the release of the severely controversial and government-locked Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump has long called these a “hoax,” describing them as a ploy concocted by the Democrats to drag him down due to his documented public appearances shared with the convicted sex offender in the past.

Marjorie Taylor Greene hopes to ‘make up’ with Trump despite fiery feud

Ahead of her sit-down with CNN, Greene had shared several posts on X, brutally clashing out with Trump over their different stances on the interpretation of the ‘America First’ ideology and the release of Epstein files. The US president, on his part, had blatantly bashed MTG on the Internet, calling her a “traitor” for having gone “far left.” His Truth Social post, however, left out any mentions of the Epstein files this time.

On Sunday (US time), Greene went on publicly apologise for perpetuating the “toxic politics” cycle, but she didn’t stosp from calling out Trump for viciously attacking her on social media either. “He called me a traitor, and that is so extremely wrong, and those are the type of words that can radicalise people against me and put my life in danger,” she said.

Despite their recently aggravated clash, Marjorie insisted America needed to come together to “end all the toxic, dangerous rhetoric and divide.” Noting how she was “leading the way” with her own example, Greene hoped that Trump would follow suit.

Bash questioned Greene about her own past inclination to fan the fire surrounding conspiracy theories and other divisive political discourse. “With respect, I haven’t heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you,” she said.

To this, MTG positively welcomed the “fair criticism,” saying, ” I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics it’s very bad for our country.”

“While I support President Trump’s administration and have voted in support of his agenda. I am also allowed to disagree with him at times,” she later tweeted on X. Again hitting out against how Trump had strayed away from his own ‘America First’ ideology, she added, “For example, bringing the Al-Qaeda Syrian President to be honored in the Oval Office on the 250th Anniversary of the Marines and the day before Veterans Day is something I am 100% against.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene on Epstein files

In her recent interview, Greene reiterated that her fallout with the POTUS had “all come down to the Epstein files.”

Her new remarks comes right ahead of this week’s House vote on the legislation called, “Epstein Files Transparency Act,” which compels the US Justice Department to release all files related to Epstein to the public. Republican Rep Thomas Massie and Democratic Ro Khanna collaboratively backed the bill, which ultimately amassed a total of 218 signatures. Of those, four were from Republicans, including Massie and Greene.

“I believe the country deserves transparency in these files, and I don’t believe that rich, powerful people should be protected if they have done anything wrong,” Greene told the CNN journalist.

Threats to Marjorie Taylor Greene amid Trump feud

Prior to her CNN outing, the Georgia politician claimed on X that private security firms had reached out to her over warning about her safety. “…hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world,” she wrote online, calling out the man she “supported and helped get elected.”

Right after her media appearance made headlines, Greene updated her X followers on how “hoax pizza deliveries” to her house and her family members had also started. Furthermore, she wrote, “Update: we also received a pipe bomb threat on my construction companies office building.”

She again blamed the Republican US president’s “unwarranted and vicious attack” for having served the role as “a dog whistle dangerous radicals that could lead to serious attacks on me and my family.”

MTG even shared that with Trump calling her a “traitor,” Fox News’ Mark Levin and other such prominent figures (including “paid social media activists”) had resorted to the same name-calling tactic. The congresswoman couldn’t but notice the “timing” of these supposed threats emerging merely days before the vote on Epstein files.

Putting her foot down, Greene asserted, “I am not a traitor. However, when the President of the United States irresponsibly calls a Member of Congress of his own party, traitor, he is signaling what must be done to a traitor.”

Trump responds: Reiterating his claims, Trump again branded Greene a “traitor” on Sunday. Dismissing the implication that his criticism fuelled the threats coming her way, he said that he didn’t believe the credibility of her admissions.

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene… I don’t think her life is in danger…I don’t think anybody cares about her,” he told reporters before boarding Air Force One to return to Washington DC after Mar-a-Lago outing.

UPDATE: In a major departure from his usual reluctance on discussing the Epstein saga, Trump has now told House Republicans to push for the release of the records. Although he reiterated the scandal was a ‘Democrat hoax,’ his firm Truth Social update saw him going back on his usual stance.

“As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party, including our recent Victory on the Democrat Shutdown,” he wrote online.

However, at the time, he urged Republicans to “get BACK ON POINT” and refocus their energies on issues like inflation. “Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive,” he added in the lengthy post, as he told Republican not to fall into the “Epstein ‘trap.'”
