Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old woman from Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in Washington, DC, on Saturday over a series of death threats targeting US President Donald Trump. She has since been arrested and charged in connection with the threats she made on social media, according to the newly appointed US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

As per the US Department of Justice’s official press release dated August 18 (US time), the 50-year-old woman’s name came up in a complaint in US District Court, as she is believed to have threatened to kill President Trump. Her alleged social media threats also indicated that she also intended to kidnap or inflict bodily harm upon the MAGA leader.

US Secret Service took note of the Instagram user account “nath.jones” from August 2 to August 9. During their course of time period, officials are believed to have discovered threatening comments about Trump on the woman’s account.

Calling for his removal, she also went on allegedly brand the Republican leader a terrorist while referring to his administration as a dictatorship. The Indiana woman additionally held Trump responsible for the “extreme and unnecessary loss of life in relation to the coronavirus,” according to the official press release.

She allegedly voiced her tirade against Trump on Facebook as well. Between August 6 and August 15, user “Nath.Jones” is said to have continued posting similar threats addressing Trump. One such post made on August 6 was even directed at the FBI, wherein she wrote, “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”

Yet another post, shared on August 14, was meant for US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. Therein, she allegedly said, “please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”

In an interview with the Secret Service the very next day, Nathalie Rose Jones again went on to call Trump a “terrorist” and a “nazi.” Additionally, she asserted that she more than willing to kill the POTUS at “the compound,” adding that she had a “bladed object,” which she claimed she would use “to carry out her mission of killing” Trump because she was bent on avenging the lives of those lost during the Covid-19 pandemic. And so, her alleged threats appear to have been spurred, to some extent, but the US leader and his government’s position on vaccinations.

Jones was interviewed for a second time the following day as well after she participated in a protest, which circumnavigated the White House complex. Despite her previous serious alleged claims, she backtracked and refuted the notion of wanting to hurt Trump altogether. When pushed by the authorities, the 50-year-old confirmed her identity as the said Facebook account’s owner, affirming that she had left behind those contentious statements targeting the president.

Special Agent in Charge Matt McCool of the US Secret Service, Washington Field Office, further highlighted that special agents from New York and Washington, DC, swiftly worked towards neutralising the alleged threat before a potential tragedy could make shocking headlines.
