US President Donald Trump and his former ‘First-Buddy’ Elon Musk have doubled down on their backhanded endorsement of Andrew Cuomo ahead of the New York City mayoral election slated for November 4. Both took to their respective social media platforms to pitch in their twisted support for the now-Independent mayoral candidate who lost to Zohran Mamdani in the Democratic primary earlier this year.
In their call to action, both Trump and Musk urged New Yorkers to step out and vote. Despite playing on the conservative field, they firmly turned the Big Apple residents against voting for the Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa. The former buddies who keep going back-and-forth on their friendship assumed a united stance, pushing their shared belief that a vote for Sliwa would inevitably translate into a vote for Indian-origin Mamdani.
Trump’s message ahead of NY polls
On Monday evening (US time), the MAGA leader jumped on Truth Social, and wrote: “Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!”
If Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral election this week, he will go on to become not only the first Muslim mayor city, but also the first one with Indian roots to clinch the title. However, Trump has firmly declared that if he does become the NYC leader, it is “highly unlikely” that he would be contributing “Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required” to his “beloved first home.”
With the Indian-origin assemblyman, whom he labels a “communist,” at the helm, Trump said that the “once great City” had “ZERO chance of success or even survival.”
Doubling down on his anti-Mamdani stance, as also highlighted in Sunday’s ’60 Minutes’ interview, the POTUS went on, “I would much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN, than a Communist with no experience and a Record of COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE.”
Issuing a stark reminder to voters, he concluded, “We must also remember this — A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without the beret!) is a vote for Mamdani. Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!”
Trump’s hours-old social media activity was rife with remarks he’d already made against Mamdani, especially during his interaction with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell over the weekend. Returning for the ’60 Minutes’ broadcast, he asserted that he would pick a “bad Democrat,” aka Andrew Cuomo, over “communist” Zohran Mamdani any day. The Republican leader chooses to call him so despite the mayoral hopeful identifying as a Democratic socialist.
During that very interview, the 79-year-old commander-in-chief said, “I’m not a fan of Cuomo one way or the other. But if it’s going to be between a bad Democrat and a Communist, I’m going to pick the bad Democrat all the time.”
Remember to vote tomorrow in New York!

Bear in mind that a vote for Curtis is really a vote for Mumdumi or whatever his name is.
VOTE CUOMO!
Elon Musk also against Zohran Mamdani, misspells him in ‘vote’ NYC call
Much like the 47th US president, the Tesla CEO also fell back on the social media platform he now owns to issue firm reminders to vote in the NYC mayoral election.
“Remember to vote tomorrow in New York!” began his Monday tweet on X. “Bear in mind that a vote for Curtis is really a vote for Mumdumi or whatever his name is. VOTE CUOMO!”
