Indian driver Harjinder Singh, who reportedly entered the US illegally through the Mexico border in 2018, made a reckless U-turn on the Florida Turnpike, killing three people in the process. The terrifying video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, with the Internet particularly fuming at how emotionless Singh remained despite his unlawful traffic maneuvre resulting in a mini-van slamming into the tractor-trailer he was driving.

The Department of Homeland Security has since revealed that the Indian national present in the US received his work permit in June 2021 (Biden was president). Furthermore, he secured a Commercial Driver’s License in California. As Singh now faces deportation, the public can’t help but wonder how he got these pieces of legal documentation even though he had come into the country illegally.

In light of the recent incident taking place at a time when the Donald Trump administration’s immigration crackdown remains unrelenting, the DHS has doubled down on its attack on the Joe Biden government.

Biden admin vs Trump admin: Harjinder Singh’s deportation was called off years ago?

Harjinder Singh’s work documents were reportedly processed and handed to him while the Democratic leader was still in office. Homeland Security divulged that the Trump government initially rebuffed these official privileges during the MAGA leader’s first term. According to a Monday report by the New York Post (US time), sources said that Singh was on the path to fast-track deportation at the time. The Indian truck driver was even processed for removal from the country back then.

While he was being processed for removal, Singh secured a favourable U-turn on the decision made by the Trump’s government by claiming that he feared being sent back home to India. Consequently, he was released from detention on a $5,000 immigration bond in January 2019 (Trump was still president).

Homeland Security officials target Newsom, ‘illegal alien’

In addition to sources sharing the details of Singh’s case with The Post, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin also did her part in setting the record straight after California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office accused the Trump admin of giving the “illegal migrant” a work permit and “lying” about it.

“False. Harjinder Singh is in the United States illegally and his work authorization was rejected under the Trump Administration on September 14, 2020. It was later approved under the Biden Administration June 9, 2021,” she wrote on X. “The state of California issues Commercial Drivers Licenses. There is no national CDL. Sincerely, Genius.”

Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said, “3 innocent people were killed in Florida because Gavin Newsom’s California DMV issued an illegal alien a Commercial Driver’s License. This gut wrenching tragedy should have never happened.

“My team at @DHSgov will work with @USDOT to root out and prevent illegal aliens from obtaining these licenses from sanctuary jurisdictions that put American drivers and passengers in danger.”

Harjinder Singh was arrested in California over the weekend, and charged for three counts of vehicular homicide. All three people in the mini-van that slammed into the tractor-trailer were killed after the Indian man made a hard left turn, trying to cross the median through an “Official Use Only” pass.

According to a state-wide news release by Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), an ICE detainer was issued in his name.
