Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris: As the counting of votes is underway in the US, let’s take a look at some of the key states that are more in focus than the others.
In this election, seven states are considered highly competitive: the “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, along with the Sun Belt states of Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Harris and Trump approached Election Day with a focus on seven key swing states. Five of these – Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia – were won by Trump in 2016 before flipping to Biden in 2020. The remaining two, Nevada and North Carolina, which Democrats and Republicans respectively won in the last two elections, were also hotly contested.
Trump projected to win North Carolina
Republican Donald Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the battleground state of North Carolina in Tuesday’s US presidential election, according to projections from Edison Research, bringing him closer to an unexpected political comeback.
Donald Trump garnered 2,571,258 votes in North Carolina, accounting for 50.8 per cent, while Kamala Harris received 2,436,454 votes, capturing 48.1 per cent in this critical swing state, according to the AP tracker.
