US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday that makes in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) more affordable across the country. The move was aimed at expanding IVF’s access via reducing its cost. According to the White House, the order calls for policies that “protect IVF access and aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs for such treatments.”

During his campaign, Trump had called for IVF treatment’s universal coverage, after his Supreme Court nominees helped overturn Roe v. Wade. This led to more restrictions in Republican-led states, including some that threatened access to IVF by defining life as starting at conception.

Roe v. Wade was a decision taken by the US Supreme Court that said the country’s constitution allows people the right to have an abortion before a fetus can survive outside the womb. This ruling started the abortion debate in the US, on whether it should be legal or who should decide if it is legal.

Trump orders firing of all remaining ‘Biden-era’ attorneys

Meanwhile, Trump on Tuesday also ordered that Department of Justice to fire all the remaining ‘Biden-era‘ US attorneys, while noting that the department had been “politicised like never before.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that there is a need to restore confidence and they must “clean house immediately’. “America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System – THAT BEGINS TODAY,” Trump wrote.

The White House had last week fired several US attorneys. Some of the attorneys who were appointed by Biden were fired on Monday.

US Judge declines to block DOGE

A Washington-based US district judge on Tuesday denied to block Elon Musk-led DOGE from accessing databases or directing firing of federal workers. However, the judge did say that the case raises questions on Musk’s apparent unchecked authority as top deputy to President Trump.
