Model Francielly Ouriques was headed for the 2025 Coachella festival when she was stopped in her tracks and deportation fears took over. The former Brazilian beauty queen was ultimately deported from the country as US Customs and Border Patrol agents declared her a threat to national security.

Earlier this week, she detailed her experience with the customs agents as she underwent an interrogation. The shocking incident disrupted Ouriques’ Coachella dreams as she was at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, connecting to a flight to California on April 10.

Why was model Francielly Ouriques deported?

After the Brazilian model was escorted to a room for inspection, custom agents discovered four tablets of the strong painkiller Tramal or Tramadol in her purse. As she spent five hours in a room with other international travellers, her smart phone was also inspected.

According to the official National Library of Medicine website, “Since July 2014, the FDA has classified tramadol as a class IV controlled substance due to its potential for misuse and addiction.” The opioid is sold under the brand names ConZip and Ultram, specifically indicated for moderate-to-severe pain.

“I didn’t know. If I had I known, I would never have it in my purse,” she said in a social media video post. The custom agents ultimately ruled that her tourist visa would be revoked. Francielly Ouriques further revealed that the authorities suspected her of illegal job in America, labelling her a threat to the country.

Those claims possibly emerged from the custom agents’ discovery of a text chain, where the Brazilian influencer exchanged words with a company regarding her visa status. Ouriques, who visited America last year for a month-long stay, and a former boyfriend had also texted each other, discussing plans of opening a business together.

US Customs and Border Protection’s reason for deporting her

An official spokesperson has since told the Daily Mail that Ouriques approached travelling to the US with dishonesty. “She was inadmissible based on statements made during her interview that were not consistent with the purpose of her visa/stated purpose for visiting the US,” they stated. “For this reason, she was denied entry into the U.S. and was deported.”

Brazilian model details detention treatment

“So my access was denied in the United States, and my visa was going to be cancelled,” she said. Detailing how the immigration officials treated her “like a bandit, complete humiliation,” the three-time beauty queen said she was detained inside a freezing, three-square-foot cell for 15 hours. During the excruciating wait while her tourist status was determined, she was only given a bottle of water and box meal.

The “traumatised” model was eventually taken to a United Airlines terminal in a CBP vehicle where she was made to return to Brazil. She only got her passport back when the return flight landed. Once there, she reached out to the Brazilian Federal Police regarding deportation. However, she was barking up the wrong tree as it wasn’t their jurisdiction. Ouriques even flashed her Brazilian passport with her cancelled US tourist visa, bearing the “Revoked” mark clear in sight.

In her final message to other international tourists, Francielly went as far as warning them to avoid travelling to the Untied States if possible. “I decided to share this here so that you too can be careful when going to this country and if you can, don’t even go,” she cautioned.

Consequently, her followers noted the irony of Ouriques being deported under the Trump administration. Pointing at an old post, social media users recalled how she was thrilled to see Donald Trump being re-elected earlier this year and celebrated his presidential campaign victory.
