Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three day round trip to the United States to attend a Quad summit and address a significant conclave at the United Nations. The sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit was held in Wilmington, Delaware on September 21, 2024, and was hosted by the President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden, Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese and Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida also participated.

Modi in his speech expressed gratitude to President Biden for organising the summit and for his personal dedication to fortifying the Quad as a catalyst for worldwide prosperity. The Prime Minister said that the unity of the Quad partners, who share a democratic culture and set of values, is crucial for humanity at a time when tensions and conflicts are rampant throughout the world. He highlighted that the group was committed to pursuing peaceful conflict resolution and defending the international order, which was founded on the rule of law, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

PM further added that the Quad partners shared the goal of an Indo-Pacific region that was free, open, inclusive and wealthy. He emphasised that the Quad was here to stay and will support, collaborate with and enhance the efforts of the nations in the Indo-Pacific.

PM Modi meets President of USA

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden on the sidelines of the Quad Summit in Delaware. In a special gesture, President Biden hosted the meeting at his home in Wilmington.

Modi expressed his gratitude to President Biden for his contributions in reviving the US-India alliance. He said that India and the USA today enjoy a comprehensive global strategic partnership that covers all areas of human endeavour, driven by shared democratic values, convergence of interests and vibrant people-to-people ties. The two leaders exchanged opinions on regional and international problems, especially those pertaining to the Indo-Pacific region and beyond and talked about how to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of shared interest. 

PM Modi meets Prime Minister of Japan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan in the USA on the sidelines of Quad Leaders’ Summit, in Wilmington, Delaware. Modi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Kishida for his steadfast commitment and visionary leadership in facilitating progress in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership in recent years.

The two leaders conveyed their pleasure with the progress made in the partnership and mentioned that the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership is in its tenth year. They also discussed ways to further strengthen defence and security connections, as well as business-to-business and peer-to-business cooperation, as they examined the many facets of their relationship.

PM Modi meets Prime Minister of Australia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese met on the sidelines of the sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, USA. A wide range of topics, including political and strategic, commerce and investments, education and research, education and research, climate change and renewable energy, and people-to-people ties, were discussed by the two leaders as ways to expand bilateral cooperation. 

The prime ministers also discussed topics of common interest that were both regional and global in scope. They agreed that the regularity of high-level meetings has given bilateral relations a lot of impetus. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights and to fortifying collaboration in international forums.
