Kate Middleton, UK’s Princess of Wales, has issued a public apology amid the online furor over her ‘edited’ Mother Day family photo. In a post on Kensington Palace’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Princess of Wales said that she experiments with editing like ‘amateur photographers.’ She said that she would like to apologise over ‘confusion’ caused by the family photo.

Within minutes of posting, the message has already garnered 1.1 million views. The X post was signed ‘C’, which means it was sent by the Princess of Wales herself.

The family photo, which was posted by the official Twitter and Instagram handles of Kensington Palace showed 42-year-old Princess along with her three kids. The photo was clicked by her husband, Prince William in Windsor, where the family lives. However, on Sunday, major media outlets such as Getty, Associated Press, AFP and Reuters retracted the photo over manipulation concerns.

Despite her office’s announcement that she would not resume public duties until after Easter and that her recovery was progressing positively, there has been widespread speculation about her health on social media in recent weeks. And the latest post by Kensington Palace has not gone down well with netizens.
