Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh received a Khalistani threat from US-based terrorist group, the Gurpatwant Singh Pannun-led Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) over his upcoming concert in Australia. According to a menacing statement and video issued by the separatist organisation reviewed by NDTV, the SFJ is keen on shutting down the renowned artist’s November 1 show over claims that he “insulted every victims, every widow and every orphan of 1984 Sikh Genocide.”

Sikhs For Justice’s Khalistani threat to Diljit Dosanjh – What we know so far

The Khalistani warning follows Dosanjh expressing his respect to Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan in a feet-touching gesture. In its scathing statement, Pannun’s outfit doubled down on allegations suggesting the Shahenshah actor had “publicly incited Hindustani mobs with the genocidal slogan ‘Khoon Ka Badla Khoon’ – ‘Blood for Blood’ – a call that unleashed death squads that committed genocidal violence in which more than 30,000 Sikh men, women, and children were killed across India.”

With the pro-Khalistani outfit being banned in India since 2019, their social media platforms are also not visible to the South Asian nation’s citizens. In July 2024, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in declared the Sikhs For Justice an “unlawful association” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for another five years.

As part of the “shut down” calls, the group said that it would hold a Panthic Shutdown Rally right outside Diljit’s concert venue on November 1. The SFJ has even called on the Akal Takht, aka “the highest temporal seat of Sikhism,” and its leader, preacher Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj to push Dosanjh to explain why he touched Big B’s feet.

“Remembrance is not for sale, and genocide cannot be normalised for applause,” the group added in its statement.

The “Naina” hit-maker is set to appear as a guest on the ongoing Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17‘s October 31 episode, which is where fans will catch the said interaction between him and Bachchan.
