A viral social media post by a mother named Nandini has struck a deep emotional chord online. For Nandini, what began as a routine goodbye became a moment of sheer panic. Her son had just called from the tarmac at Delhi airport, saying his Air India flight to London was preparing for departure—a comforting ritual they always followed. As always, she reminded him: “Message me when you land, no matter how late.”

Moments later, she turned on the television—only to be confronted with breaking news that an Air India flight en route to London had crashed.

“In those heart-stopping seconds before I learned it wasn’t his flight, my legs gave way and my heart sank like never before,” Nandini wrote in her now-viral post. “To the families who have suffered this unimaginable loss—my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have no words for your grief. To those who survived, your life is nothing short of a miracle. May you have the strength to heal.”

The tragic crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, bound for London Gatwick, went down in the Meghani area, triggering a massive explosion and sending a thick plume of black smoke into the sky. Emergency services responded swiftly, battling flames and rushing to assist any survivors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded with a statement expressing deep sorrow and concern. “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. I have been in touch with ministers and authorities who are working to assist those impacted,” he said.
