Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Apulia, Italy on Thursday night to attend the 50th G7 Summit. India’s Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao, along with other officials received PM Modi at the Brindisi Airport. This is Modi’s first foreign visit after assuming office as the Prime Minister of India for the third time in a row. Before leaving for Italy, the PM had stated that the G7 Outreach Summit is of significance as it allows India to discuss key issues that are crucial for the Global South. He also said that the focus will be on issues surrounding energy, artificial intelligence, Africa, and the Mediterranean. Keeping this in mind, the PM’s itinerary has been carefully crafted, and here we will give you a glimpse into what exactly his agenda holds.

What is on PM Modi’s agenda today?

Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, took to platform X and gave an overview of PM Modi’s day-long visit to Italy. According to the details he shared on X, Jaiswal was pretty clear that the PM is going to have a jam-packed day. He’s set to engage in a summit segment titled ‘Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa-Mediterranean’, spearheaded by Italian Prime Minister Meloni. This discussion will also feature the presence of Pope Francis.

Jaiswal further informed that the PM has several meetings lined up with various world leaders. He is expected to hold bilateral talks with POTUS Joe Biden, UK PM Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

PM Modi will also address the outreach session of the G7 summit. But he will not take part in the Ukraine Peace Summit, which will be hosted by Switzerland at Burgenstock from June 15 to 16.
