Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with world leaders on the sidelines of the G0 Summit in Rio de Janeiro on Monday. He had a discussion with the heads of state from Brazil, Singapore, and Spain, underlining India’s commitment to boost international collaboration. The summit was hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and also provided a platform for addressing key issues.

Warm welcome from Brazil

PM Modi extended his gratitude to President Lula for the cordial reception, marking the onset of his participation in the summit. ”Looking forward to the proceedings at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Thankful to President Lula for the warm welcome,” the prime minister shared it on social media X.

During the summit, PM Modi also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and held a crucial discussion with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. In a post, Modi underlined the significance of their dialogue and termed it as ”a wonderful interaction with his Singaporean counterpart.

The Prime Minister also interacted with Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, with whom he shared a warm exchange because of Sanchez’s recent official tour to India. Modi recounted their meeting as a ”lovely interaction,” highlighting the deepening of bilateral ties between India and Spain.

In his address on the opening day, Modi draw attention towards the disproportionate impact of global crises on the Global South. With a special focus on topics such as fuel, food, and shortages of fertilizer. He also appealed to the G20 nations to prioritize solutions for these challenges. The summit will hold discussions on major political issues including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the ongoing crisis in Gaza and will also shape the future of the path for global diplomacy.
