After an investigation report substantiated dozens of misconduct allegations against former BBC presenter Gregg Wallace, the broadcaster announced on Monday that it will no longer work with him.

An independent investigation substantiated 45 of the 83 allegations made against Wallace during his tenure hosting the popular cooking show MasterChef between 2005 and 2018. The majority of these complaints involved “inappropriate sexual language and humor”, with one incident involving unwelcome physical contact.

The anchor had to step down from his hosting role on MasterChef for the BBC last year after multiple women came forward with allegations of inappropriate behavior spanning 17 years.

The BBC apologised in a statement and said Wallace’s return to the program was “untenable”. “The BBC has informed Mr Wallace we have no plans to work with him in future,” the broadcaster said.

An internal review in 2018 against Wallace following a complaint then, also found his conduct to be “unacceptable and unprofessional”. Ahead of the report’s release, Wallace denied the most serious allegations. In a statement posted on Instagram, he said, “I will not go quietly. I will not be cancelled for convenience. I was tried by media and hung out to dry well before the facts were established.”
