Elon Musk, who faced allegations of heavy drug use during his time as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration, has shared a lab report from a recent drug test he took this month. The report shows negative results for a range of substances, including ketamine, which directly contradict the rumours.

The lab test comes after a New York Times investigative report claimed that Musk often used ketamine during the 2024 campaign and into his time at the White House. The report, citing sources, added that he also used ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and a daily regimen of approximately 20 pills, including Adderall. It further claimed that it had led to his bladder damage.

While sharing the lab report of his urine sample on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk simply wrote, “Lol.”

In June this year, before taking the drug test, Musk tagged The New York Times’ report on him taking the drug as “lies”. He wrote, “Also, to be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off.”

He added, “I tried prescription ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this is not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but I haven’t taken it since then.”

Though Musk previously acknowledged using ketamine under medical supervision. In a 2024 interview, he said, “I really don’t like doing illegal drugs.” The world’s richest person added that he took only “a small amount once every other week” to manage depression.

Musk’s 2023 post

“Depression is overdiagnosed in the US, but for some people it really is a brain chemistry issue,” Musk had written in June 2023 on X.

He added, “But zombifying people with SSRIs for sure happens way too much. From what I’ve seen with friends, ketamine taken occasionally is a better option.”
