A mild earthquake measuring 4.06 on the Richter scale struck Pakistan on Monday, according to the National Centre for Seismology. The tremor occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, with the epicentre located at latitude 29.12°N and longitude 67.26°E.
This comes just days after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, raising concerns over seismic activity in the region.

Experts note that shallow earthquakes, typically those less than 70 km deep, tend to cause more damage on the surface due to the short distance seismic waves travel. At a depth of just 10 km, Monday’s quake was capable of producing intense localised shaking near the epicentre.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage. However, tremors were reportedly felt in nearby areas, causing brief panic among residents.
Seismologists are monitoring the region closely for any further activity.
