Bangladesh protests: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other Hindu organisations on Tuesday clashed with police and broke barricades outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, to protest the mob lynching of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu youth in Bangladesh. Heavy security was deployed near the Bangladesh High Commission in the high security area as VHP, Bajrang Dal protester holding banners and placards – some of which read “Hindu rakt ki ek ek boond ka hisaab chahiye (Each drop of blood of a Hindu must be accounted for) – demanded justice to Das’s family.
On December 18, Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old garment factory worker, was lynched to death by a mob and his body set on fire over alleged blasphemy in Baluka in Mymensingh.
Bangladesh has summoned Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, amid concerns over the security of Bangladeshi missions in India.

1- News agency ANI, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Verma has been requested to ensure strengthened security for Bangladesh missions located in various parts of India. This is the second time in the past 10 days that Verma has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The neighbouring country’s envoy has been summoned at least six times over various incidents during the tenure of the interim government, reported news agency ANI.
2. Police have meanwhile detained the protesting members of Vishva Hindu Parishad and other Hindu organisations. Heavy security was deployed near the Bangladesh High Commission to monitor and control the situation. Carrying placards in their hands, the VHP members broke barricades during the protest outside the Bangladesh High Commission, news agency PTI reported. The protestors demanded accountability from Bangladeshi authorities, with some calling for justice and protection of minorities.

3- Bangladesh protest has also spilt onto the streets of Kolkata, where senior Bengal BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari led a march to the Bangladesh High Commission .
“I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with every protester, every Bengali heart that bleeds for our Hindu Brothers and Sisters across the border. We will not forgive this cowardice. Temples razed, families displaced, lives shattered under the shadow of radical Islamism. The plight of Hindus in Bangladesh is a humanitarian crisis screaming for global intervention,” he told reporters.

4- Besides the VHP, members of the Sarbo Bharatiya Hindi Bangali Sangathan and Bajrang Dal participated in the protest, as per media reports.
5- India on Sunday dismissed “misleading propaganda” in sections of the Bangladeshi media over a protest staged outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi against the “horrendous killing” of Hindu youth.
“The fact is that about 20-25 youth gathered in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on December 20 and raised slogans…,” MEA said in a statement, before adding, “There was no attempt to breach the fence or create a security situation at any time. The police stationed at the spot dispersed the group after a few minutes. Visual evidence of these events is available publicly for all to see.”
The statement further said, “India is committed to ensuring the safety of foreign Missions/Posts in its territory in accordance with the Vienna Convention.”

8- On December 18, Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old garment factory worker, was lynched to death by a mob and his body set on fire over alleged blasphemy in Baluka in Mymensingh. As per the police in Bangladesh, Das was first beaten up by a mob outside the factory over blasphemy allegations and later hanged from a tree. Following this, the crowd left his body on the side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway before setting it on fire.
9 – “A Hindu man was brutally assaulted and killed. We are requesting our government to take strict action against those who are behind the killing of a Hindu man. We are also protesting that even the Bangladesh police must take strict action against those who are behind the killing,” a protestor said.
10 – At least 12 people have been arrested in their alleged involvement in the lynching of a Hindu garment worker, Dipu Chandra Das. He was beaten by a mob, dragged out of his factory, hanged and set on fire over alleged blasphemy in Bangladesh.
