China President Xi Jinping, on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with India, underscored the importance of closer cooperation between the two Asian giants. In a message to President Droupadi Murmu, Xi described the relationship as a “Dragon-Elephant tango,” symbolising harmonious coexistence and shared progress.

Peace and stability between India-China

The message comes at a time when global trade tensions are high, particularly with the US imposing tariffs on Chinese goods. Xi urged both nations to strengthen communication, coordinate on major international affairs, and maintain peace along the shared Himalayan border, where a 2020 military clash had strained ties.

Easing post-2020 border tensions

Relations between India and China have been tense since the Galwan Valley clash, but recent diplomatic engagements indicate a shift towards de-escalation. Both nations have held high-level military and diplomatic talks to manage border disputes.
