An FIR was filed against five Amity University students on Saturday for abusing their classmate inside a parked vehicle. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media and shows the second-year student being repeatedly slapped and verbally abused by the group. The incident took place on the Lucknow campus of the university last week with the father of the victim later approaching the police.

According to an NDTV update, the victim had been on his way to college when he was picked up by a friend in her vehicle. The accused students had arrived at the campus parking lot as they reached and sought to speak privately with Kesarwani.

Slapped repeatedly, verbally abused

The widely circulated clip shows five students crowding the victim — identified as Shikhar Mukesh Kesarwani — and repeatedly slapping him. Two of them (including a woman seated in the front passenger seat) rained blows on his face and body while another can be heard abusing and threatening him. They also threatened to escalate their attack if Kesarwani made any attempt to defend or shield himself.

“Move your hand away from your face, or you will be beaten even more,” one of the accused can be heard saying.

The nearly two-minute-long video was recorded from the back of the vehicle and purportedly circulated across campus by the attackers. It shows Kesarwani being slapped dozens of times as he tried to shield himself.

‘They threatened to kill us’

“My son underwent a ligament surgery on August 11…He was walking with the help of a stick. Jahnvi Mishra and Ayush Yadav then slapped my son at least 50 to 60 times and also abused me and my parents. They also threatened to kill us. “During all this time, Vivek Singh and Milay Banerjee recorded the assault and circulated the video on the campus. They also broke my son’s phone. When I visited the college, they threatened me and told me to never come again. They threatened to assault me in a similar way,” the complainant told NDTV.
